Writing only “sales,” “interpreter,” “IT” or “marketing” does not tell immigration what the person will actually do. Under Engineer / Humanities / International Services, the central issue is whether the duties require professional knowledge/skills or thought and sensitivity based on foreign culture. In some cases, we prepare not only a job description but also a daily and weekly duty schedule.
Describe actual acts, not just the job title
Two jobs both called “sales” may be completely different for immigration purposes. Ordinary retail selling is different from overseas market research, proposals to corporate clients, negotiation of contract terms, sales analysis and preparation of foreign-language materials. Explain what the applicant actually does and what professional knowledge is needed.
A useful job description often covers: (1) concrete duties, (2) percentage of time, (3) knowledge/languages used, (4) reporting line, (5) work products, and (6) the position of any incidental simple/field work.
“Chinese-language sales, customer service, translation/interpreting and other duties instructed by the company” does not show the core work or where the professional element lies.
Example daily schedule
| Time | Example duty | Point to explain |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00–9:30 | Sales meeting / case review | Clients, progress and sales strategy |
| 9:30–11:00 | Overseas market / competitor research | Analyze Chinese-language materials and industry data |
| 11:00–12:00 | Proposals and quotations | B2B proposals tailored to customer needs |
| 13:00–15:00 | Client meeting / interpreting | Professional explanation of terms and specifications |
| 15:00–16:30 | Contracts / document translation | Business documents, not ordinary daily conversation |
| 16:30–18:00 | Sales analysis / reporting | Analyze figures and prepare next actions |
Example weekly schedule
- Mon: weekly meeting, market data, existing client cases
- Tue: proposals, quotations, overseas partner communication
- Wed: negotiations, interpreting, contract adjustment, minutes
- Thu: competitor analysis, promotion planning, translated materials
- Fri: sales totals, case analysis, weekly report and next-week plan
Why percentages matter
Showing, for example, 80% professional duties, 10% incidental administration and 10% training can make the principal activity clear. But paperwork cannot turn a job that is actually mostly customer service, cashiering, cleaning, packing or line work into a professional job.
We connect the job description to the organization chart, transaction evidence, hiring reason and the applicant’s education/work history so that the application tells one consistent story.
